Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Endorses Rob Teilhet for Attorney General

Smyrna,GA– Today the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) endorsed Rob Teilhet for Attorney General. Founded in 1981 by a group of African American women with a desire to form a voluntary bar association that would focus on women and children's issues, increase black female representation in the judiciary and in public offices, and take a proactive stance on political issues, GABWA's 500 members came together and declared Rob Teilhet their candidate of choice.

“Rob has shown a strong commitment to women's and children's issues as a State Representative and we believe he will carry that into the office of Attorney General,” said La'Keitha Daniels, the President of GABWA . “We need an Attorney General who will keep our communities safe by investing in our kids. Rob Teilhet is the right man for the job.”

GABWA has an active membership of women and men who strive each day to fulfill the association's mission: to nurture, support and galvanize the power of Black women attorneys, advocate for women and children and empower our communities . In their communities, the members of the association are well-known for service projects aimed at strengthening women, children and Georgia's families.

“It's been an honor to receive the support from such an impressive and dynamic association,” said Teilhet. “For nearly three decades, GABWA has shown fearless leadership with its community outreach programs and commitment to justice. The members of GABWA realize that keeping our communities safe means more than simply locking up a criminal and throwing away the key. We must invest in our kids and prevent crime from happening in the first place.”

GABWA's endorsement adds to the campaign's growing list which includes endorsements from former prosecutor, Speaker of the House, Lt. Governor, appellate judge and Supreme Court Justice George T. Smith , the IBEW Local 613 , Marshal Greg Countryman of Muscogee County, former legislator and U.S. Senate candidate Jim Martin , DeKalb Solicitor General Robert James , Civil Rights Leaders Representative Tyrone Brooks and Elder Bill Harris , the Chairmen of the Legislative Black Caucus, Senator Emanuel Jones , eight Democratic State Senators , and over forty current and former Democratic members of the House of Representatives .

Teilhet's campaign for Attorney General focuses on protecting Georgia's children, crime prevention, ethics in government, and consumer protection.  Teilhet is widely known as a champion in the General Assembly for protecting Georgians from rip-offs and con artists.  He has been a reliable supporter of law enforcement and crime victims as a member of the House Judiciary Committee.  Teilhet has also consistently fought for stronger ethics laws.

Rob Teilhet (pronounced tuh-lay) has represented Smyrna and Marietta in the Georgia House of Representatives since his election in 2002 at the age of 28.  He is the Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and serves on the Judiciary, Education, and Industrial Relations Committees.  He is a partner in the Marietta law firm of Rogers, Strimban & Teilhet.  More information about his campaign and other endorsements can be found at his website, www.robforgeorgia.com .
