Rob Teilhet Leads All Rivals in Attorney General Race
Teilhet Raises More Than $207,000 in 12 weeks; Sets Torrid Pace

SMYRNA, Ga.  State Representative Rob Teilhet today announced that he raised $207,031.24 from 480 donors across Georgia in his campaign to be Georgia's next Attorney General. Teilhet's fundraising total far exceeds the amounts raised by two other announced candidates for the position. Teilhet filed his disclosure report late Tuesday night, showing contributions through June 30, 2009. His disclosure does not include a personal loan to increase the total.

“In twelve short weeks, this campaign has built enormous strength throughout our state,” said Representative Rob Teilhet. “The people of Georgia are ready for a strong, active and independent Attorney General who will protect our families from crime, consumer rip-offs and crooked politicians.”

“We reached our extraordinary fundraising goal with the help of everyday Georgians in every corner of the state that subscribe to hope and are ready for change," said Teilhet.  "With their continued help, we will win.”

Teilhet says his campaign for Attorney General will focus on consumer protection, advocacy for crime victims and ethics in government.

Teilhet is widely known as the strongest voice in the General Assembly for protecting Georgians from rip-offs and con artists. He passed laws that protect Georgians from identity theft, stopped the legalization of payday lending, and pushed to eliminate fraud in instant tax refunds.

Teilhet is a tough-on-crime legislator and a reliable supporter of law enforcement and crime victims as a member of the House Judiciary Committee. He passed a law to expand background checks on people who work with children, the elderly and people with disabilities and has consistently supported tougher penalties for criminals and stronger protection for victims.

Teilhet is a champion for stronger ethics laws. He fought for limits on lobbyist gifts to legislators. He pushed stricter rules on conflict of interest in Georgia's General Assembly, and for a stronger, broader Open Records Act.

Rob Teilhet (pronounced tuh-lay) has represented Smyrna and Marietta in the Georgia House of Representatives since his election in 2002 at the age of 28. He is the Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and serves on the Judiciary, Education and Industrial Relations Committees. He is a partner in the Marietta law firm of Rogers, Strimban & Teilhet. More information about his campaign can be found at his website, www.robforgeorgia.com .
