Senator Emanuel Jones, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chair , Endorses Rob Teilhet for Attorney General
Sen. Emanuel Jones' Early Endorsement Shows Strong, Broad Support

SMYRNA  Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chairman Emanuel Jones has announced his endorsement of Representative Rob Teilhet to become Georgia's next Attorney General .  Senator Jones' endorsement comes early in the campaign, just less than one year from the primary election on July 20, 2010.

“I know Rob Teilhet well, and I've watched him fight for Georgia's families in the legislature. As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, he has cracked down on predatory lenders and worked to protect victims of crime ,” said Senator Emanuel Jones.  “ Rob Teilhet understands how to keep us safe, and will fight for our families and our community as our next Attorney General.”

“Senator Jones is a remarkable leader, and I'm proud to have him on our team,” said Representative Rob Teilhet. “His support proves that our message of standing up for crime victims, fighting consumer fraud and working to end public corruption is resonating with Georgians.”

Senator Jones represents Georgia's 10th Senate District, which includes portions of DeKalb and Henry counties.  He was elected chairman of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus in December 2008.  Senator Jones owns several car dealerships in Georgia, and is the operator of the third largest African American owned business in the state.  He earned his MBA from Columbia University and BS from the University of Pennsylvania.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1980 and rose to the rank of Captain.

Senator Jones' endorsement follows recent news that Representative Rob Teilhet far outpaced all other candidates running for Attorney General in the June 30 fundraising report. Teilhet raised more than $207,000 in 12 weeks from more than 480 donors across Georgia.

Teilhet says his campaign for Attorney General will focus on consumer protection, advocacy for crime victims and ethics in government.  Teilhet is widely known as the strongest voice in the General Assembly for protecting Georgians from rip-offs and con artists.  He has been a reliable supporter of law enforcement and crime victims as a member of the House Judiciary Committee.  Teilhet is also a champion for stronger ethics laws.

Rob Teilhet (pronounced tuh-lay) has represented Smyrna and Marietta in the Georgia House of Representatives since his election in 2002 at the age of 28.  He is the Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and serves on the Judiciary, Education, and Industrial Relations Committees.  He is a partner in the Marietta law firm of Rogers, Strimban & Teilhet.  More information about his campaign can be found at his website, www.robforgeorgia.com .
