September 13, 2007
Atlanta –State Representative Rob Teilhet (D-Smyrna) has been named to the Executive Committee of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.
“It is an honor to be part of the Georgia Partnership,” said Teilhet. “Georgia is very fortunate to have an organization dedicated to researching and promoting ideas aimed at improving K-12 education in our state. I look forward to working with business, community, and state leaders to improve education for all of our children. If we do not succeed in education, our economy and our future as a state will suffer.”
Founded in 1990 by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Economic Developers Association, GPEE consists of business, education, community and government leaders who share a vision of improved education. Working to be Georgia's foremost change agent in education, the non-profit, non-partisan organization takes a leading role in efforts to shape policy and reform education.
Other noted GPEE Executive Committee members include top executives of AT&T, UPS, Georgia-Pacific, IBM, Deloitte and Turner Broadcasting. Also on the Executive Committee are Georgia PTA President Laura Dobbs, Erroll Davis, Chancellor of the University System of Georgia, and Michael Thurmond, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Labor.
Rep. Teilhet is a member of the House Education, Industrial Relations and Judiciary Committees. He is the Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and has been a lawmaker since 2003. He lives in Smyrna with his wife Heather and practices law as counsel to a growing Georgia company. |
